Foreign Minister
Erika Mouynes reported that a new batch of
COVID-19
vaccines from
AstraZeneca will arrive in Panama this weekend.
The country will receive a total of 163,200 doses, and according to Mouynes with this
AstraZeneca fulfills the delivery of one million contracted doses. "Panama is the first country in Latin America to receive all the agreed doses," he said.
Panama began its immunization plan against
COVID-19 on January 20, and has used the formulas of
Pfizer /
BioNTech and
AstraZeneca.
Until this Thursday, 5,083,877 doses of
COVID-19
vaccine had been applied in Panama, of which 4,347,449 correspond to doses from
Pfizer and 736,428 from
AstraZeneca.
According to the Ministry of Health, 50% of the population has two doses of
vaccines against
COVID-19.
