X Update Enables App to Bypass Brazil Ban, Say Internet Providers

Elon Musk's X social network updated its app to bypass a ban in Brazil. The update used Cloudflare software with dynamic IPs, making it harder to block. The ban stemmed from a legal order after Musk refused to remove accounts and name a legal representative.
Elon Musk's X social network executed an automatic update on phone applications, enabling it to bypass a ban in Brazil.

The Brazilian Association of Internet and Telecommunications Providers (ABRINT) announced Wednesday that the update to Cloudflare software, using dynamic IP addresses, complicated the blocking of X.

This change followed a Supreme Court judge's order to shut down the platform over Musk's refusal to remove certain accounts and name a legal representative in Brazil.

The debacle highlights issues surrounding freedom of expression and disinformation.
