OpenAI has blocked accounts of an Iranian group named Storm-2035 for using ChatGPT to generate politically influential content aimed at U.S. elections.

The group focused on topics such as U.S. presidential candidates, Gaza conflict, and Israel at the Olympics, sharing the content through social media and websites.

Despite generating long-form articles and social media comments, the operation saw minimal engagement.

Most posts received limited interaction. The accounts are now banned, and OpenAI continues to monitor for policy violations.

Previously, Microsoft identified Storm-2035 for polarizing U.S. voter groups with divisive messages.

The upcoming U.S. election features a tight race between Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump.

Before this, OpenAI had already disrupted five similar deceptive operations.
