A total of 163,200 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Panama this Sunday, August 8.

This is a new shipment of vaccines that the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca makes to Panama through bilateral negotiation, as part of the continuous vaccination strategy contemplated in Operation PanavaC-19.

"The doses that arrived in the country will be applied in the fast cars installed nationwide, in Veraguas, Chiriquí, Coclé, Los Santos, Herrera, Panama Oeste, Colón and in the Irving Saladino Sports City, in the capital," said the Ministry of Health (Minsa).

On Monday, August 9, the AstraZeneca vaccines will be applied by appointment in the fast car of the Irving Saladino Sports City from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, while at the other vaccination points throughout the country the schedule will be from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm

According to the Minsa, these will be applied as the second doses to those who have already been inoculated with this immunizer, and need to complete their vaccination chart.

In Panama, the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine is being applied voluntarily to men and women over 30 years of age.

With this shipment, Panama has received 681,600 doses of the AstraZeneca preparation, of which 110,400 have been through the Covax mechanism, and 571,200, through the bilateral mechanism.

The health authorities enabled other rapid vaccination centers to apply AstraZeneca to the volunteers, in the provinces of Panama, Chiriquí, Los Santos and Herrera, Veraguas, Coclé and Colón.
