The Minister of Education, Maruja Gorday de Villalobos, presented to the Panamanian Association of Company Executives (Apede), the strategy for the crisis and post-crisis by COVID-19, called "The Education Star does not stop".

The initiative comprises three phases:

1. The first corresponds to extracurricular educational services in the isolation period.

2. The second encompasses the reinstatement of the 2020 school year lasting seven months, in which students gradually return to schools and do homework.

3. The third phase includes the development of the 2021 postCOVID-19 school year, lasting nine months with students in schools and adjustments to any interruption.

The return to classes has not yet been defined by the educational authorities. Panama closed schools across the country in March to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Minister of Education explained that education will be done in virtual space during this period of suspension of classes, such as the repository of contents, modules and guides available on the educational portal of the institution www.educapanama.edu.pa and the "Connect with the Star" project, which started on the radio this week for elementary and middle school.

The National Deputy Director of Curriculum, César Castillo, announced that classes began on the radio this Wednesday for 7th, 8th and 9th grade students with the Geography course. Tomorrow they will continue with Natural Sciences and on Friday with English from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Nacional 101.7 FM, Crisol 106.9 FM and Radio Nacional 840 AM.

Mondays will be Spanish, Tuesday Mathematics, Wednesdays will rotate between Geography, History and Civics.

During the virtual meeting, content adaptations for students with disabilities and the biosafety protocol for returning to classes, which will depend on the instructions of the Ministry of Health, were also presented.
