Haiti receives 15 tons of humanitarian aid sent by Panama

Panama sent humanitarian aid in cooperation with the Government of Chile for the victims of the 7.2 magnitude earthquake.

This Tuesday afternoon, the 15 tons of humanitarian aid that were sent by Panama in collaboration with the Government of Chile arrived in Haiti to help those affected by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred on August 14.

Among the implements that are included within the humanitarian aid are dry food, medicine, water and tents, among others, which were collected at the Omar Park collection center, among Panamanians together with the donation made by the Panamanian State.

"The 15 tons of humanitarian aid sent by Panama in cooperation with the Government of Chile reach Haiti for those affected by the recent earthquake. We thank the Panamanian people for their noble gesture of solidarity," said the Presidency of the Republic of Panama in a tweet.

The transfer was made from the National Aeronaval Service (Senan) terminal located at the Tocumen International Airport, on a Chilean Air Force flight, this as part of an alliance between both nations to help the Caribbean country.

“From Panamanian hands to Haitian hands. Solidarity aid reaches our brothers thanks to international collaboration. Together we are stronger in the face of any adversity ”, highlighted the Foreign Minister of Panama, Erika Mouynes.

Cabe mencionar, que el terremoto de 7.2 ha dejado en Haití hasta el momento un saldo de 1,941 fallecidos y 9,900 heridos, además de miles de damnificados.
