Steve Bannon, a prominent right-wing figure and ex-senior advisor to
Donald Trump, started his four-month prison sentence on Monday for contempt of Congress.
Convicted for not complying with a subpoena from the congressional panel investigating the January 6 Capitol attack, Bannon reported to a federal prison in Danbury, Connecticut.
Emphasizing his defiance, Bannon stated, 'I'm proud of going to prison today if it's what it takes to stand up to
Joe Biden.' Supporters, including Marjorie Taylor Greene, greeted him outside the prison.
Initially convicted in October 2022, Bannon's bail was revoked in May after an appeals court upheld the decision.
Despite no longer working officially for Trump, Bannon vowed to use his influence to support a Trump presidency through his podcast, 'The War Room.'
