License plates issued 2021 will be valid until 2025

License plates issued 2021 will be valid until 2025

To obtain the corresponding plates or distinctive, the owner of the vehicle must comply with the rules already established.
As of this Friday, September 24, Resolution No. 001-2021-RUVM will take effect, extending until 2025 the validity of the unique vehicle plates corresponding to the 2021 period.

The resolution establishes to maintain the sum of $5 per year to the municipalities to receive the decal in the years that the vehicle does not correspond to the renewal of its metal plate. This in accordance with the provisions of Law 214 of May 4, 2021.

For this year, 2021, the color of the decal is green, for 2022 it will be yellow, for 2023 it will be ocher (similar to mustard), for 2024 it will be blue, and lime green for 2025, keeping the same order in each quinquennium thereafter, this according to the resolution.

The standard clarifies that the plates will maintain the same dimensions, color, nomenclature and quality, established for the manufacture, with the variant that, depending on the year in which the vehicle or towing unit is registered, each plate will have in its inner part centered , stamped in high relief and inked in black, the number corresponding to said year, followed by the last year of validity of the plate. For example, if you registered it in 2022, it will say "2022 - 2026", and so on.

To obtain the corresponding plate or distinctive, the owner of the vehicle must comply with the rules already established.

It is an initiative that seeks to help mitigate the ecological damage caused by 24-gauge aluminum, a material used in the manufacturing process of car license plates in Panama.

The initiative arose considering that the manufacturing process of these aluminum sheets, each year generate high rates of waste and garbage that pollute, despite the fact that its workshops use procedures that guarantee high security, and avoid counterfeiting.
