A report found Fox News follows state law to accommodate transgender employees, and right-wing critics are calling for the 'full Bud Light treatment'

Some critics, including right-wing commentator Matt Walsh, called for a boycott after a report detailed Fox News policies for transgender employees.
Fox News has policies in line with New York city and state laws to accommodate transgender, non-binary, or gender non-conforming employees, a report in a conservative news outlet found.

The report — which revealed Fox News follows the law by using employee's preferred pronouns and letting them use bathrooms of their choosing — prompted right-wing critics to call for the "full Bud Light treatment" of the conservative media powerhouse.

Conservative news website The Daily Signal published a report on Monday outlining the policies.

The Daily Signal report quoted former Tucker Carlson staffers in its story about the rules and cited a copy of Fox News' company handbook from January 2021.

Under the workplace policy for Fox News, which is headquartered in Manhattan, employees are allowed to use bathrooms that are consistent with their gender identity and they must be addressed by their preferred name and pronouns, according to The Daily Signal.

Additionally, Fox News offers to assist employees undergoing the process of gender transition with a "Workplace Transition Plan," according to the report.

"During the initial and any subsequent meetings, you and the Company should develop and maintain a Workplace Transition Plan," Fox News' company handbook says, according to The Daily Signal. "This Plan will outline the steps that need to be taken to ensure a successful transition at work."

Under a category called "Gender Transition" in Fox News' employee handbook, the company states it is committed to "expanding and strengthening" efforts to "sustain a more inclusive work environment," The Daily Signal reported.

It is illegal in New York City and New York State to discriminate against someone on the basis of gender identity or expression, including denying them the use of the bathroom that fits their gender identity or misgendering them.

A Fox News spokesperson told Insider: "Fox News Media is compliant with all Human Rights laws mandated by the cities and states in which we operate, including New York and California."

But right-wing critics online are trashing the network, using the report and the recent ousting of Carlson — the network's top host who stoked controversy by spreading conspiracy theories — as justification.

Right-wing commentator and columnist for The Daily Wire, Matt Walsh, was quoted in the Daily Signal's story, saying there's "no daylight at all between Fox News and MSNBC when it comes to gender."

In a tweet sharing the story, Walsh later said, "Fox needs to get the full Bud Light treatment. They are actively working to suppress conservative voices while promoting leftism in its most radical form. Enough is enough."

Conservatives recently called for a boycott of Bud Light over its partnership with the popular trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

Twitter user @PaulHook_em echoed Walsh's remarks, tweeting on Monday: "Fox News deserves the Bud Light treatment. If you continue to support them, you're with the enemy."

User @SirStevenKJ mentioned Carlson's ousting in a tweet on Fox News' recent bombshell ousting of its top-rated host, Tucker Carlson, saying, "@FoxNews fired Tucker Carlson … and they have decided to go all in with the trans nonsense."

"The Murdoch Empire is pure trash," the tweet read, along with the hashtag, "#BoycottFoxNews."
