After controversial statement, President Cortizo assures that he will comply with the rules of the Minsa

After a confusing statement that the president of Panama Laurentino Cortizo gave this Wednesday morning, he clarified that in case of him testing positive for COVID-19, he would comply with the quarantine established by the Ministry of Health.
Cortizo had earlier said: If at some point I test positive for coronavirus, by the hand of God I'm going to raffle it, but I'm not going to stay at home, they can't make me stay at home, I'd like to go out, see the people, talk to them.

Cortizo was criticized on social networks, especially because the country is in one of the most critical moments due to the increase in infections, where more than two thousand cases have been reported in a single day, which has led to the Government to toughen sanitary measures in some provinces, and to reinforce the “Stay at home” message.

Being president comes with risks that I face every day. All the more reason, if tested positive, I will comply with the established quarantine to continue working throughout the country, Cortizo wrote later on Twitter.

The president revealed that, like every other week, this Wednesday he was tested and the result was negative.

Until this Tuesday, December 8, Panama registered a total of 181,166 accumulated cases of COVID-19.
