Assembly Subcommittee carried out public consultation on reforms to the Internal Regulations

The subcommission that analyzes the project that reforms the Internal Regulations of the National Assembly must present a report on August 11.
A subcommittee of the Credentials Commission of the National Assembly (AN) held on Tuesday, August 3, a meeting with members of civil society, to evaluate Bill No. 96 that modifies and adds articles of Law 49 of 1984 that adopts the Internal Regulations of this organ of the State.

The subcommission was created on July 21 to analyze and expand the project that modifies the Internal Regulations of the Legislative Chamber. It is chaired by the deputy of the Panameñista party Bernardino González and made up of deputies Juan Diego Vásquez and Lilia Batista.

Deputy González recalled that on August 11, the subcommittee must render a report on this analysis.

On the other hand, the deputy of the Panameñista party defended that the meeting had been held in a room with capacity for 12 people. He assured that it was not behind closed doors.

"We must abide by the biosafety procedure that prevails here in the National Assembly ... the speakers waited at reception and one by one they were called so as not to create agglomeration," said Deputy González.

While the deputy Vásquez indicated that the participation for the analysis of the reforms to the Internal Regulations should be broad.

"Unfortunately, many deputies in the National Assembly continue with their criteria of maintaining opacity and reducing citizen participation ," said Vásquez.

The deputy and president of the National Assembly, Crispiano Adames promised that in this period the project that reforms the Internal Regulations would be discussed.
