Martínez said that he held a meeting with the Basecamp team during Cybertech in Tel Aviv in January and visited its technology park in Beer Sheva, Israel, where the ecosystem model that connects the academic public sectors with the private initiative was learned, in a way that beneficial and sustainable.

Basecamp was looking for locations especially in Latin America to establish another technology park and we were able to introduce them to the great opportunities that Panama offers, Martínez said.

The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo said that this cooperation agreement seeks to reinforce the strategy of turning Panama into a digital hub in the region.

Converting Panama into a digital hub aims to attract investments from technology and innovation companies around the world, to encourage entrepreneurship, education and enhance Panamanian talent, closing the gap of inequality, said Cortizo.

The Basecamp company is dedicated to establishing and managing innovation ecosystems around the world with operations in Israel, Germany, Kazakhstan, China, Taiwan and Greece.

It has a vast network of connections with innovative Israeli startups, high-tech companies, and startups.
