La millonaria licitación ha sido cuestionada ya que se da en medio de la crisis económica que vive el país por la pandemia del COVID-19

Budget Director justifies $10 million tender for Presidency's car rental

The Budget Director of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), Carlos González justified the million-dollar tender for the rental of some 251 cars for the Ministry of the Presidency and its dependencies, for a reference price of $10.3 million.
According to González, the car rental represents a saving of between 15% and 20% for the State.

In the case of the Presidency, we have to understand that there is an administrative renewal system with each administration and it was costly for the Presidency to manage a fleet of vehicles that entailed having workshops, hiring mechanics and having a staff assigned for that, González said.

The tender includes the rental of 144 4x4 trucks, 38 Sedan vehicles, 12 double cab pick-ups and about 15 commercial type buses.

González assured that it is an open process that allows transparency and leads to obtaining the best price that the market offers.

The $10 million tender has been questioned since it occurs in the midst of the economic crisis that the country is experiencing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
