Business leader Felipe Rodríguez told RPC Radio that they hope that the measures announced by the National Government on Tuesday, to mitigate COVID-19 infections in Panama, will not further affect the country's economy, which is already very affected.
We hope that the measures they announce are coherent and take into account the economic aspect, mainly of micro and small companies that are more than 90% of those that operate in the country," the businessman told RPC Radio.
Rodríguez pointed out that the measures taken should not affect the businesses that have managed to reopen, despite the fact that they are on the verge of bankruptcy and that they have strictly complied with the biosecurity measures established by the Ministry of Health (
Minsa).
The businessman added that the most affected sector is tourism, and on this it is expected that its economic recovery will be achieved within 4 years.
Given this, businessmen have agreed that extreme confinement would end up annihilating small businesses.
