La Camtur también está solicitando la reactivación del Gabinete Turístico

Chamber of Tourism asks for a roadmap and fluid communication for reactivation

Ernesto Orillac, president of the National Chamber of Tourism of Panama (Camtur), asked the Ministry of Health (Minsa) to install a table with the aim of establishing a roadmap and maintaining fluid communication to reactivate this sector hit by the covid-19 pandemic.

Orillac assured that this sector has implemented all biosafety protocols to regulate crowds and prevent contagion.

"We must have clear measures, therefore we are asking the Ministry of Health for a table where we can establish fluid and open communication ... communications in many cases are not clear and people, such as tourists and businessmen, are not clear about what requirements they have, ”Orillac said.

He recalled that currently both national and international tourism is in high season, so it was urgent to find the mechanisms to open this industry.

“ We cannot start this industry understanding that we have restrictions on beaches, national parks ... what we are asking is more regulation of the issue of agglomerations, but understanding that we must open the country in the sense that we as an industry have established biosecurity protocols. ... if we don't achieve this, we are on the verge of disappearing,” Orillac warned.

He also requested the reactivation of the Tourism Cabinet, chaired by the Vice President of the Republic, José Gabriel Carrizo.

The Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama (CCIAP) also asked the Government to reconsider the opening of national parks, trails and beaches on weekends for tourist recovery.
