The cause of the incident is still under investigation, with interviews conducted with crew members and maintenance personnel regarding the condition of the captain's seat.

Authorities are also examining the plane's cockpit seat history.

A source close to the investigation revealed to CNN that the black box and the captain's seat from a Boeing 787 Dreamliner that experienced a sudden drop, injuring 50 people, are currently in Chile.

The black box will be handed over to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), while the seat will be inspected by the FAA and Boeing.

Boeing had previously sent an advisory to airlines in 2017 regarding the inspection of cockpit seat switches on the planes.

After the incident, Boeing issued another advisory to airlines operating the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, recommending they inspect the seat switches.
