Chilibre water treatment plant will operate at 50% this Saturday, October 9

Several sectors will be affected without the water supply due to the work that will be carried out from 2:00 am to 6:00 pm at the Chilibre water treatment plant.

The National Aqueducts and Sewers Institute ( Idaan ) reported that for this Saturday, October 9, the Federico Guardia Conte de Chilibre water treatment plant will operate at 50% of its capacity due to interconnection works of a main line from 66 "to 18", repair of a 60 "line and installation of 3 control valves as part of the Water Supply Project for 21 Chilibre communities.

The entity announced that the works will be developed by the company COPISA.

The information offered by the Idaan adds that the work will last up to 18 hours, starting with the stoppage of the engines of the water treatment plant from 2:00 am for the drainage process of the 66 "line and will end with the installation of the accessories (crosshead) by the company COPISA in Madden.

Sectors affected

The Idaan indicates that the water supply will be affected mainly the high and remote points of the network in the city of Panama, San Miguelito and the eastern sector of the capital. Once completed, the recovery of the distribution system will take several hours from 2:00 p.m.

The affectation is exempted for the sectors of Calidonia, Santa Ana, San Felipa El Chorrillo and reverted areas that are supplied by the Miraflores water treatment plant.

As part of the contingency actions due to the lack of water, an operation will be put into operation to supply the Hospitals, Polyclinics and Health Centers of the capital Tocumen, San Miguelito :, and Chilibre through tanker trucks. In addition, the coverage of the Miraflores water treatment plant will be expanded to guarantee supply to the Dr. Amulfo Arias Madrid Metropolitan Hospital Complex.

Faced with this situation, the institution recommends that residential and commercial users take the necessary measures to avoid shortages during this period while offering apologies for the inconveniences that may arise.
