Cortizo: Hospital capacity is the first criterion evaluated to reopen economic sectors

The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo, indicated that hospital capacity was the first basic criteria taken into account for the reopening of some economic activities in block 3.
He explained that when economic activities were divided into six blocks, the parameters that had to be met prior to opening a sector were stated.

Each block has certain requirements for its opening. When the second block was opened, positive cases skyrocketed, for things like that we have to weigh the hospital capacity, the president said.

He added that with Figali and Amador Convention Centers as medical centers, greater hospital capacity is guaranteed.

The rest of the economic activities, which are included in the other blocks with no dates to be defined, will depend on citizen behavior, the RT, which is at 1.6, and the hospital capacity, and other factors.

Next Monday they will start activities included in block 3: retail sales, car sales, professional and administrative services, construction of private projects.

The health authorities indicated that to define these dates, a weekly review of the percentage of COVID-19 infections in the country will be carried out, so it is important to follow compliance with measures to mitigate the virus.

Panama registered its first official case on March 9 and closed all economic blocks. Currently accumulates more than 78,000 cases and 1,722 deaths due to COVID-19.
