Cortizo: ID holders will receive $80 'digital vouchers' tomorrow

The president explained that the ID will be used as a debit card. When you use some of the money, for example in a supermarket, the cashier must inform you of the remaining amount of your balance after your purchase.

From 8:00 am this Thursday, April 30, the first phase of the so-called $ 80 'digital voucher' begins with the personal identity card, as part of the Panama Solidarity program due to the crisis caused by the pandemic of the coronavirus, announced President Laurentino Cortizo .

The first beneficiaries will be the workers whose contracts have been suspended and are registered with the Ministry of Labor; the peddlers registered with the Mayor of Panama; the wallets registered in the National Lottery of Charity and artists registered in the Ministry of Culture. The number of first phase beneficiaries is approximately 84,000.

The total amount to be disbursed in this first phase is $ 6.7 million.

The Executive activated the “Panama Solidario” website, so that as of today people can enter the page www.panamasolidario.gob.pa to copy the number of their ID to find out if they will receive the $ 80 support.

The Relief Care and Response System (SARA) was also enabled to verify the voucher. Or they can call number 14.

According to Cortizo, with this new method they aim to provide discretion and avoid crowding.

With the card they will be able to shop for food, medicine and cleaning supplies in 13 supermarkets in the country: Xtra, El Machetazo, Super 99, El Fuerte, Rey, Riba Smith, Super Carnes, Romero, Mr. Precio, Justo & Bueno, Víveres Unidos, El Tajonazo and Farmacias Metro.

Soon they will announce the day that the beneficiaries will be able to make purchases in the mini-supermarkets and grocery stores.

Until last April 28, during the first phase, the Government gave $ 44 million in solidarity bond.
