The president of Panama Laurentino Cortizo said that there will be an announcement made related to the extension of the mobility schedule in the provinces where the circulation restriction is still maintained by days and hours, according to sex and ID number.
According to Cortizo, it will be up to the Minister of Health Luis
Sucre to make this announcement.
In Panama and West Panama, citizens are only authorized to circulate an average of six hours a week.
The issue of the extension of more hours will be announced by the minister today, said the president on Tuesday 18 August, however detailed that Monday, Wednesday and Friday will remain for women; and Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays for men, but "under another condition".
Cortizo's made the statement at a public event in El Chorrillo, in which he addressed about the time required for beauty treatments.
I understand perfectly well the need for the ladies; some require a little more than two hours to do their hair. I hope that the Minister of Health today comes with good news, to be able to solve that problem, he said.
The president's reaction comes a day after many businesses resumed activities, but only through online sales. The salons can also operate from Monday, but with restrictions: guests must make reservations and local can not exceed 50% of its capacity.
Many voices have been raised to point out that two hours are not enough to attend so many errands. In the provinces of Panama and Panama Oeste, the population can only go out for two hours (according to the last number of the personal identity card) and on certain days, depending on gender: women go out on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and men, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
