Devastating Passing of 20-Year-Old American Bodybuilder Sparks Health Worries

Jodi Vance passes away due to a heart attack associated with severe dehydration at the Arnold Sports Festival.
Jodi Vance, a 20-year-old bodybuilder from the United States, tragically passed away due to a heart attack caused by severe dehydration during the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio.

Her family conveyed their grief in a social media post, describing her passing as 'sudden and unexpected'.

The statement disclosed that her heart stopped as a result of dehydration complications, and despite the hospital staff's efforts, they could not revive her.

'She was a beautiful person inside and out, and she will be missed every single day,' her family wrote, asking for privacy as they navigate their loss.

At the time of the incident, Vance was not competing but was there to support her students in her role as a coach.

Reports indicate that she began to feel unwell after the competition and was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Justin Mihaly, Vance's trainer, provided additional information in a video on Instagram following the tragedy.

He mentioned that Vance's mother had agreed to share these details publicly.

Mihaly emphasized that Vance had made a 'significant error' by possibly using dangerous substances without his knowledge or her family's approval, which he believes contributed to her dehydration.

Mihaly stated, 'Jodi used two extremely hazardous substances to enhance her physique - I believe just for the Arnold Expo - without my knowledge, my approval, or that of her family.'

He expressed that there was no reason for her to have been dehydrated. He raised concerns about her health leading up to her death, noting that many close to Vance had urged her to ease the intensity of her training.

'Her work ethic was truly unparalleled.

It was very difficult to get her to slow down,' he remarked, adding that her vital signs at the time suggested the use of a substance he had previously warned her about due to its potential dangers.

Vance had secured third place in the Women's Physique division at the 2024 NPC Battle of Texas and was active on social media, where she had over 8,000 followers, regularly posting images of her physique alongside motivational content.
