‘I Am Not Done’: Kamala Harris Signals Possible 2028 White House Run

In a BBC interview the former vice-president hints at another presidential bid while reaffirming her warnings about Donald Trump

Former Vice-President Kamala Harris said in an interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation that she remains open to running for the presidency again in 2028 and highlighted her ongoing commitment to public service. “I am not done,” she declared, emphasising that politics remains integral to her identity and that she is driven by a lifelong vocation of service.

Asked directly whether she would seek the White House again, she replied, “Possibly,” though she stressed no final decision has been made. She dismissed the relevance of current opinion polls, stating that if she had listened to them in the past she would never have run for her first or second office and would “certainly not be sitting here.”

During the wide-ranging interview, Harris renewed her attacks on Donald Trump, calling him a “tyrant” whose presidency has been marked by weaponising the Department of Justice and suppressing critical commentary, including media satire. She cited the suspension of television host Jimmy Kimmel and the shifting behaviour of business and institutional leaders as evidence of political coercion under Trump.

Harris underlined her belief that the United States will elect a woman president during the lifetime of her grand-nieces, adding that the question is not if but when. She also repeated her earlier reflection that the decision by the handful of senior figures to let Joe Biden run for reelection in 2024 was “reckless” and not merely a matter of personal ambition.

Her remarks accompany the release and international tour of her memoir, 107 Days, which chronicles her 2024 presidential campaign. In recent months she has been promoting the book in the United Kingdom and other overseas markets. While her comments signal clear intent and ambition, she has yet to commit to a particular campaign timeline or strategy.

For now, the Democratic Party faces a widening field of potential candidates for 2028, and Harris’s decision will shape that dynamic. Her strongest message centres on purpose and continuity of service — not the outcome of polls or popular expectations. The coming months may determine whether she officially embarks on another White House bid.
