A 5.1 magnitude earthquake was reported at 1:13 am today in Panama. The tremor was felt in large part of the country.

Today at dawn, at exactly 1:13 a.m., a 5.1 magnitude earthquake was reported with an epicenter in Santa Isabel, Colón.

The Institute of Geosciences of the University of Panama reported that the depth of the movement was 31 kilometers and its epicenter was Santa Isabel, in the province of Colón.

The sounding board of the people was as always social networks. This is how the reaction on Twitter was experienced at the same time that the earthquake occurred.

After the seismic movement, units of the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) traveled to various points in the capital sector, including some hospitals for monitoring.

Sinaproc also reported that the Emergency Operations Center keeps monitoring and surveillance in the provinces at the national level.

"Given the seismic event registered this morning, through the Institute of Geosciences of the University of Panama, we inform the population that no tsunami alert has been issued over the national territory. The epicenter of this event was in Santa Isabel, province of Colón, "warned Sinaproc.
