Tarifas Eléctricas correspondiente al primer semestre del año 2021

Electricity rate will decrease for a million customers for the first semester 2021

The National Public Services Authority (ASEP) announced this Tuesday, December 29, that the electricity rate will decrease for more than 1 million clients of EDECHI, EDEMET and ENSA in the first half of 2021.
During the Virtual Informative Forum, Jenny De Da Lorenzo, financial analyst of the entity explained the decrease in the rate without subsidy for ENSA clients will be 9%, EDECHI 9.1% and EDEMET 0.2%, which will be in force from January 1 to June 30.

Armando Fuentes, administrator of Asep, indicated that the subsidy or contribution from the State regarding the Rate Stabilization Fund (FET) and the Western Rate Fund (FTO), aimed at clients in Chiriquí and Bocas del Toro, is maintained.

Regarding the subsidy to the electricity rate due to COVID-19, Fuentes indicated that it is "an object of study by the Cabinet Council, we can anticipate that it will be approved, but it must be announced in a timely manner."

The special subsidy or COVID 2019 at this time is not included in this rate since it is under evaluation. We have a projection that we have to keep reserved at this time, however it is important to inform that this subsidy in the last year of the month of April to December was approximately 164 million dollars, said the administrator of ASEP.

If the COVID-19 subsidy is approved, Fuentes expressed that there would be a little more decrease in the Kw / h price, it is not a tariff decrease, it is a decrease in the payment of customers, we maintain the projection of benefiting customers who they consume from 0-300 kwh with a significant percentage and customers who consume from 301 to 1000 kwh with another percentage.
