World Economic Forum 2024 Preview: Davos to Address Critical Issues

Next week, Davos is set to host the 2024 World Economic Forum (WEF), uniting global leaders to focus on rebuilding trust. They'll delve into topics like global security, creating jobs, climate action, and AI—with a goal of reaching meaningful, joint resolutions.
The tranquil Swiss town of Davos will become the backdrop for the 54th WEF Annual Meeting from January 15-19, 2024, under the banner of "Rebuilding Trust," spotlighting the urgency to regain confidence in the face of geopolitical strife, climate crisis, and technological leaps in AI. This year calls for actionable solutions through clear communication and responsible governance.

Expected attendees at WEF 2024 include over 100 governments, numerous international entities, civil society leaders, industry experts, youth activists, and media, along with the Forum's 1000 partner companies.

Key figures such as Ajay S. Banga of the World Bank Group and Fatih Birol of the IEA, among others, will participate.

The WEF 2024 agenda is structured around four key themes: promoting global cooperation, fostering economic growth and employment for the future, harnessing AI as an economic and societal catalyst, and formulating a long-term plan for climate, nature, and energy.

Highlighted is the AI Governance Alliance, consisting of tech giants aiming to steer AI development ethically, emphasizing transparent, inclusive AI designs with a global perspective.

Microsoft's Brad Smith emphasizes the need for Al to serve humanity and the alliance's role in responsible AI governance adapted to rapid tech shifts.

The First Movers Coalition showcases a collaborative business endeavor focused on decarbonizing sectors with high emissions and propelling new climate technologies to slash greenhouse gases.

The coalition has grown to over 95 members with 120 commitments, emphasizing action and pragmatic solutions, as IKEA CEO Jesper Brodin points out.

Mark your calendars for January 15-19, as Davos hosts pivotal talks at this crucial meeting to face global challenges—aiming for concrete impacts and real-world resolutions. Follow Euronews for complete updates, analyses, and exclusive interviews from the WEF 2024.
