Food producers complain about delay in issuing safe conducts

Several food producers in the Coclé province have not received their safe-conduct validation for May, which allows the producers to carry out their activities outside of quarantine hours.
This situation led some producers to halt their activities, while others continue, but at the risk of being caught and punished.

Eidi Bonilla, a meat and milk producer in the Ciénega Redonda sector, in the township of Capellanía in Natá, is affected by this situation.

“The previous safe-conduct [validation] expired on April 30 and the new ones have not been granted despite the fact that all the information requested was provided and claims have been made. We are concerned that the police may fine my collaborators when they come to work, "he said.

He said that on Friday he had to suspend milking activity and yesterday they risked working. Sunday they are still on the platform as “not validated”.

"I ask the President of the Republic to give an extension with the safe-conduct validations, because the police do not understand, if the platforms are congested and safe," he said.

According to the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) of Coclé, there are about 5,000 producers in the province who must meet the safe-conduct requirements in order to continue production.

To date, only 2,268 have been entered, despite the fact that the producers must include their data is in the system

The Minister of Agricultural Development, Augusto Valderrama, said that those who have the problem getting validated, should go to the regional offices of the Ministry of Agricultural Development to be added the platform.

"More than 45,000 safe-conducts authorization were issued on the MIDA platform with the coordination of the Ministry of Commerce throughout the country" added Valderrama.
