Canciller Mouynes: consideramos no apropiado nivel 4 de advertencia de Estados Unidos sobre el riesgo de viajar a Panamá

Foreign Minister Mouynes: US level 4 travel warning to Panama not appropriate

Foreign Minister Erika Mouynes asked this Wednesday, July 14, the Ambassador of Panama in Washington, Juan De Dianous, to present a formal note to the United States with "the arguments why we do not consider a level 4 appropriate for Panama", in the travel warning it makes to US citizens.

The decision comes after the United States Department of State maintained its warning to US citizens not to travel to Panama, due to the cases of Covid-19 and the increase in crime.

The website of the US entity stressed in its warnings that the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a travel health advisory - level 4 - for Panama, in the event of the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2.

The US travel warning about Panama states:

##

Do not travel to the following areas of the Darien:

All areas south of Jaque to Manene to Yaviza to Lajas Blancas cities to the Colombian border

- The city of Lajas Blancas
