Four lanes of the Pan-American highway in Loma Cová will be closed starting at 9:00 pm

The collapse of this section of the Pan-American highway occurred on Monday. Work is expected to run through Saturday.
Starting at 9:00 pm on Tuesday, September 28, the four lanes of the Pan-American Highway will be closed after the collapse at the height of Loma Cová.

Once the road is closed, the largest amount of machinery will be entered to do the excavation. Tonight, the pipeline installation is expected to begin in the part that has already been excavated.

According to Zacarías Alvarez from the maintenance department of the Ministry of Public Works (MOP), the lanes will be enabled once all are built. Work is expected to run through Saturday.

After starting the excavation in the right lane towards the Bridge of the Americas, it was found that in the left lane the slab was in the air, and that in addition, the slab of the third lane was also involved. The affected pipeline has already been identified, however it still needs to be replaced and then refilled.

"The pipe fractured and there is a complete scour under the pavement structure," Álvarez explained.

For its part, the Transit and Land Transportation Authority (ATTT), at 3:00 pm today will make the lane reversal of the Bridge of the Americas - Howard.

From Wednesday, September 29, the lane reversal operations that are carried out in the morning from TCT to Burunga (four lanes to the City and two to TCT), will be extended along the Centenario road to the Rod Carew Stadium (from Arraiján three lanes to the city and one lane to the interior of the country) from 4:00 am to 8:00 am

The measure will be implemented until the MOP completes the repair work after the subsidence of the pavement on the Pan-American highway.
