Guatemalan court decrees embargo of plane belonging to former president Martinelli for investigation

It is the plane, with registration N799RM, which was hijacked by the Guatemalan authorities on February 26 at La Aurora International Airport.

The Guatemalan Domain Extinction Court decreed the embargo of the plane , with registration number N799RM, owned by the former president of Panama, Ricardo Martinelli, as a precautionary measure as part of the investigation carried out by the Prosecutor's Office Against Narcoactivity on possible anomalies in the acquisition of this good.

This measure, which was decreed on September 2, allows the Domain Extinction Prosecutor's Office to request that the aircraft pass into the hands of the State of Guatemala, however the Public Ministry of the country has not presented a request against the property of Guatemala to date. Martinelli.

This plane was hijacked by the Guatemalan authorities on February 26 of this year at La Aurora International Airport, when the former president's wife, Marta Linares de Martinelli and her daughter-in-law traveled to Guatemala to visit the brothers Luis Enrique and Ricardo Martinelli Linares, arrested for the alleged conspiracy to commit the crime of money laundering and for hiding information on money laundering, which involves the Odebrecht company between 2013 and 2015.

According to the spokesman for the Guatemalan National Civil Police, Jorge Aguilar, there were no illicit substances in the aircraft, however, the Prosecutor's Office against Narcoactivity, has determined that the aircraft does not meet the navigability requirements, which is why it was immobilized.

When the event occurred, Martinelli showed the inspection report on his Twitter account and stresses that it was an anonymous complaint from a false email account, also pointing out that nothing was found and asking for the seized asset to be returned.
