Long lines of people, mostly young people, during the first day of vaccination sweeps in 8 circuits

Long lines of people - mostly young people - were observed this Wednesday, July 21, on the first day of the anticovid vaccination sweeps with the Pfizer doses in eight circuits of the country.

A large number of citizens showed up at the different immunization centers that were set up at dawn, despite the fact that the day - aimed at people 16 years of age and older - began at 7:00 a.m. and lasts at 6:00 p.m.

The circuits where these sweeps are carried out are: 2-1 (Penonomé), 4-1 (David), 6-2 (Los Pozos, Parita and Pesé), 6-3 (Las Minas, Ocú, Santa María ), 9-2 (La Mesa, Las Palmas, Soná), 9-4 (Atalaya, Mariato, Montijo, Río de Jesús), 8-7 (Ancón, Bella Vista, Betania, Calidonia, Curundú, El Chorrillo, Pueblo Nuevo , San Felipe, Santa Ana) and 8-8 (Don Bosco, Juan Díaz, Parque Lefevre, Río Abajo, San Francisco).

Chronic patients and people with disabilities from the age of 12 will also be vaccinated in these circuits, with their respective medical certification.

The representative of the Bella Vista township, Ricky Domínguez, urged citizens to be calm and patient, since he recalled that the day will last until this Sunday, July 25. "Let's avoid crowds," he said.

Regarding the vaccination that began today and the confusion that some people have expressed about vaccination with appointments, the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre , explained that if this was opened so that all people were to be vaccinated, a disorder would form and that You must comply with processing appointments on the vaccination platform (https://vacunas.panamasolidario.gob.pa/vacunas_menu/).

“For a matter of order and discipline, the priority is for those who are included in the vaccination platform. Through this platform, you will be sure that you will be vaccinated that day,” Sucre said.

He added that those people who go to the vaccination centers and have not registered on the platform, have to understand that priority will be given to those who have already made their appointment. And that those were not written, they have to be patient to be vaccinated or to be registered on the spot.

"At this time, if there is the opportunity to vaccinate people who failed to register on the platform, they are vaccinated, but we must be patient," Sucre said.

The vaccination day against Covid-19 began on January 20, and until yesterday, Tuesday, July 20, the Expanded Immunization Program of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported the application of 1,890,415 doses of vaccines.

The Minsa has reiterated the call to the population not to lower their guard against the new coronavirus and that, despite receiving the vaccine, self-care measures such as hand washing, physical distancing, the use of alcohol, must be maintained, mask, alcohol gel and face shield.
