The Judicial Branch (OJ) reported this Friday, September 18, that Judge Carlos Alberto Vásquez opened a period for the plaintiff and all interested persons to present written arguments on the unconstitutionality claim against Executive Decree No. 490 of March 17 of 2020, which declares a curfew in Panama.
Vásquez issued an order ordering the publication of an edict for up to three days in a newspaper with national circulation, so that these arguments can be presented within a period of ten days.
The term was opened after the Attorney General, Rigoberto González, issued a concept in relation to the lawsuit, after being notified of it.
The lawsuit was filed by attorneys José Alberto Álvarez and Rubén Elías Rodríguez.
Through this decree, a curfew was declared in Panama, in the first instance, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. as a measure to mitigate the contagion of
COVID-19.
