Meduca extends plan that provides free internet to students and teachers until December

The Meduca Educational Solidarity Plan allows free access to school platforms, YouTube and WhatsApp.
The head of the Ministry of Education ( Meduca ), Maruja Gorday de Villalobos, announced that the Solidarity Educational Plan will be extended until December, which allows free access to virtual educational platforms for students and teachers of official schools in Panama.

This, considering that some 315 thousand students have used the Teams platform and another thousand ESTER.

According to Gorday de Villalobos, the Government Innovation Authority (AIG) is currently in the final steps with the four telephone companies to implement the extension of the plan, which began on March 15, and was scheduled to end on June 15 .

The program offers access from 7 GB to 10 GB of data to use the ESTER and Office 365 / MS Teams platforms, WhatsApp, YouTube and Internet pages for education, free of charge.

To benefit from the Solidarity Education Plan 2021, the guardians must register the students on the page panamadigital.gob.pa , in the procedures section, registration of the solidarity education plan, through the corresponding form.

For the development of this plan, the Government reached agreements, for a minimum fee, with the four telephone companies in the country, based on the data evidenced in the behavior of 2020.

This program aims to benefit the thousands of Panamanian students who study remotely amid the pandemic.

A match will be made with the Official Electronic Newsletter Generation System (Siace) to verify that the student is using the benefit correctly.

Meduca explained that at the end of the first quarter of this school year 2021, a total of 240,023 students and 36,085 teachers maintained the link through the Office 365 tool; More than 1.9 million meetings were organized, in which 8.3 million hours of audio and 6.6 million hours of video were shared.
