Mexican Influencer Valeria Márquez Killed During Livestream in Suspected Femicide

The 23-year-old was shot three times by a disguised assailant while filming content at her salon in Zapopan; authorities confirm investigation is underway
Valeria Márquez, a 23-year-old Mexican beauty influencer and entrepreneur, was fatally shot during a TikTok livestream in her beauty salon in Zapopan, Jalisco, on May 13, 2025. The incident, which has been confirmed by local authorities and reported by multiple national and international media outlets, is being investigated as a suspected case of femicide.

According to eyewitness accounts and surveillance footage reviewed by authorities, a man posing as a delivery driver entered Márquez’s salon shortly before the attack.

He reportedly asked for her by name.

Moments later, he drew a firearm and shot her once in the abdomen and twice in the head before fleeing the scene.

Márquez died at the location.

The attack occurred while Márquez was livestreaming on TikTok.

Portions of the event were captured in real time and subsequently circulated on social media, prompting widespread shock and public attention.

Local police and forensic teams responded shortly after the shooting, and the Jalisco State Prosecutor’s Office has opened a full investigation.

Authorities have confirmed that the case is being treated as a potential femicide — a classification used in Mexico for the killing of a woman due to her gender.

No arrests have been reported as of this writing.

Márquez had built a significant following online through her beauty content and had recently launched her own salon business.

Her death adds to a growing list of gender-based violence cases in Mexico, where femicide rates have remained persistently high in recent years.

The Zapopan municipal government has not released further details about the suspect or a possible motive.

Officials have urged the public to avoid spreading unverified footage or speculation, and to report any relevant information to the authorities.

The investigation remains ongoing.
