Mexico Suggests Constitutional Amendments to Protect Sovereignty Following U.S. Terrorist Labels on Cartels

President Claudia Sheinbaum pledges to implement constitutional amendments following the U.S. designation of six Mexican cartels and two gangs as foreign terrorist organizations, cautioning against any external intervention.
On Thursday, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum declared her intention to propose constitutional amendments aimed at safeguarding Mexico's national sovereignty.

This initiative comes in response to a decision by the U.S. government to categorize six significant Mexican drug cartels and two Latin American gangs as foreign terrorist organizations.

Included in this list are notorious cartels operating in Mexico as well as international criminal entities active in the area.

During a press conference, Sheinbaum asserted that the Mexican populace will not accept any form of intervention, intrusion, or actions that jeopardize the nation's integrity or autonomy.

She emphasized that legal measures already established to limit the actions of foreign agents will be firmly integrated into the constitution.

Additionally, she recommended a second amendment to enforce stricter penalties on arms trafficking, a move aimed at reducing the influx of weapons from overseas.

The president remarked that the U.S. decision was reached without prior consultation with Mexican officials and warned that such unilateral measures could lead to unauthorized military interventions.

Mexican authorities are currently evaluating the proposed reforms while continuing to engage through established law enforcement and diplomatic avenues to tackle ongoing security issues.

I understand the US concern but they have no right to go into another country to fight the gangs .they need to shut their border .the US seems to be heading to try some sort of power/land grab .but they should also remember that they have not won a war on there own since 1776 .and from Korea, Vietnam, the dessert wars and now Ukraine they have been beat like a rented mule. I believe Trump sees the US as dying empire and the USD losing world reserve status and that does not fit his imagine as being a King
