Minsa: 450,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines will arrive in Panama during the first quarter of 2021

The Ministry of Health announced that during the first three months of 2021, 450,000 doses of Pfizer's vaccine will arrive in Panama, which will be distributed to a specific population.
As detailed by the Deputy Minister of Health, Ivette Berrío, the vaccination plan will begin with priority groups: officials of the health sector, members of the Executive Branch, deputies, security forces, bedridden adults over 60 years of age and those who are in asylums and homes.

We have signed with the vaccine developers amounts that we plan to vaccinate about 80% of the Panamanian population, in a staggered manner, Berrío said.

The Minsa added that in a second phase the arrival of the AstraZeneca vaccine is expected, totaling 1.1 million doses, and will be considered for older adults.

According to Itzel de Hewitt, coordinator of the Expanded Immunization Program (EPI), in this first batch of vaccines, the placement of this vaccine will be exempted for children under 12 years of age, people with a diagnosis of HIV / AIDS, and pregnant women and to people allergic to eggs.
