Minsa authorizes three checkpoints in Los Santos

To maintain the effective reproductive number of cases (Rt) and mitigate the spread of Covid-19, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) authorized the installation of three health checkpoints to enter the province of Los Santos.
This is established in resolution No. 673 of July 24, 2020, signed by the Minister and Vice Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre and Ivette Berrío, respectively.

The checkpoints will be located on the bridge over the La Villa river, at the height of Las Cabras de Pesé and in Macaracas. They operated since the beginning of the pandemic, but were dismantled since they had no legal backing.

In these health control posts, medical, administrative and operational personnel of hospitals, medical care centers and public and private medical laboratories will be authorized to enter and leave the province of Los Santos. Everyone must carry their identification card.

However, other people who for labor and health reasons would like enter the province of Los Santos, must meet a series of requirements.

The resolution details that companies, businesses, formal and informal jobs whose activities are carried out in Los Santos must issue a certification. This certification must be validated by the municipal authorities of Los Santos, according to the place where the activity is carried out.

People who live in the province of Los Santos and who for health reasons require leaving and returning must submit a sustained request to the Health Region, which must issue an authorization.

It was also indicated that all companies, and formal and informal businesses, whose activities are carried out in Los Santos and are excepted to carry out their commercial activities, must present to the municipal authorities of the province, as appropriate, and within a period not exceeding five days after the entry into force of said resolution, a statement attaching the list of workers.

In the same way, it was warned that in these health checkpoints, health and safety actions will be carried out aimed at containing the massive movement of people in order to guarantee the health of the population that lives there.

The regional director of Health of Los Santos, Ayvar Hernández, reported that on Monday night, July 27, he will meet with the governor of Los Santos, Rubén Villarreal; with the mayor of Los Santos, Maximiliano Amaya and with the coordinator of the Control Post to refine details and strategies and define whether the posts will be installed tomorrow, Tuesday or Wednesday.

Of the 61,442 cases of the new coronavirus that have been registered in the country, since March 9, 116 were reported in the province of Los Santos, according to statistics from the Minsa.
