Más de 38 mil personas fueron retenidas en el país por violar la cuarentena

Over 38,000 people were detained in Panama for violating the quarantine

29 May, the National Police units had retained a total of 38,860 people in the country who violated the quarantine imposed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, since the beginning of last March.
According to statistical figures from the Police, from March 18 to May 29 of this year, 36,692 of the detainees were male, while 5,996 were female and 2,168 were minors.

The figures highlight that until April 27, 662 drivers had been penalized for traveling outside their driving hours, of which 559 were driving private vehicles and 103 taxis.

The circulation by schedules for people and private vehicles will be ineffective from tomorrow, when the quarantine is lifted and a curfew is in force that will run from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am. It will no longer be necessary to carry a safe conduit.

However, the decree that established this curfew was the subject of an appeal for constitutional guarantees before the Supreme Court of Justice, which, if accepted, will suspend the measure until the merits of the appeal are resolved.
