El sistema inmune de las personas recuperadas de COVID-19 es más robusto que el de alguien que haya recibido dos dosis de la vacuna

Panama analyzes a single dose of vaccine to those recovered from COVID-19

Dr. Eduardo Ortega, advisor to the Center for Vaccine Research of Panama (Cevaxin) and general secretary of the National Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation (Senacyt), indicated that Panama is considering placing a single dose of the vaccine on people recovered from COVID-19.
On this issue, the doctor explained that it is a recent discussion and added that France has already made the recommendation to give a dose of vaccine to people who have passed COVID-19, in view of the fact that they have a very robust immune system, in fact Ortega pointed out that studies show that their immune scheme is superior to that of two doses of the vaccine applied to a person not infected.

"It is being considered, it is being discussed. It is a decision that we are going to make as long as we know how many doses are going to reach us, but today we know that a dose of vaccine protects these people. How long can one wait? Initially we said that these people could wait up to 3 months to receive the first dose of vaccine, today we know that between 3 and 6 months of waiting does not put these people at risk and they would respond to a dose of the vaccine," he said.

On the other hand, Ortega said that between Monday the 15th and Tuesday the 16th the company Pfizer should be communicating with the Panamanian authorities to inform about the arrival of the next shipment of vaccines against COVID-19.

The Secretary of Senacyt pointed out that apart from the vaccines with which Panama has signed agreements, approaches are being made to buy three other vaccines from other pharmaceutical companies that have the expectation of being very effective.
