Panama Canal registers "atypical behavior" of covid-19 with 63 new cases

The Panama Canal reported that 90% of COVID-19 infections were registered in the Colón area.
The Panama Canal reported a significant increase in new cases of covid-19 among its collaborators in the last week, "which shows an atypical behavior."

The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) detailed in a statement that in the last week it registered 63 new infections of covid-19 versus 4 registered in the previous week.

90% of the infections were registered in the Colón area, for which the application of swabs for the detection of covid-19 cases was coordinated with the Ministry of Health (Minsa), the ACP indicated.

To date, the Panama Canal counts 74 active cases, of which 73 collaborators are in isolation, and one is hospitalized.

The total accumulated cases of covid-19 in the Panama Canal workforce is 1,777 and 21 deaths from this disease.

The ACP assured that they implement biosafety standards to protect the health of their employees and their families.
