Panama Metro begins construction of piles on Line 3

Panama Metro begins construction of piles on Line 3

With these works, the first civil works of Metro Line 3 begin, which will have a route in its first phase of 24.5 kilometers.
After completing the testing phase, the Panama Metro began construction of the 1,450 piles required along the 24.5 kilometers of Line 3.

The transport company indicated that the piloting works will begin on two fronts:

1. The viaduct corresponding to the San Bernardino area.
2. The Ciudad del Futuro Station, the last station on Line 3.

The construction process of these piles, which will have a maximum depth of 47 meters, takes 3 to 4 days. Once drilled, the reinforcement is placed and the concrete is poured; leaving the structure in place waiting for the column.

The Panama Metro clarified that the piles of Line 3 have a greater diameter than those of the previous lines, due to the design conditions.

It was learned that the Ciudad del Futuro station will be located in front of the Pan-American Highway at the entrance of this community and will have two accesses to meet the demand of this growing population.

Currently, a plan for the rescue and relocation of flora and fauna is being carried out in this area, as well as the removal of vegetation for the development of the work.

Metro Line 3 will be developed in two phases. The first to the Ciudad del Futuro sector, Arraiján district, where the Patios and Workshops of the line will be located, and a second phase to La Chorrera.

This line, which will depart from the Albrook station and will run through Arraiján, Nuevo Chorrillo and will reach Ciudad del Futuro, will have a route in its first phase of 24.5 kilometers, along which 14 stations will be distributed.

Its route includes an underground section, with an approximate length of 5.3 kilometers.

A demand of 20,000 passengers is estimated at peak hours, with an interval between trains of less than 4 minutes.
