Panama paid an advance to Pfizer to buy vaccine against covid-19

The Vice Minister of Health of Panama, Ivette Berrio confirmed that an advance payment has already been made to the American pharmaceutical company Pfizer for the acquisition of its vaccine against covid-19, as established by the requirements.
All agreements have specific points, delivery times, logistics, preparation, cold room and times to pay for deliveries. Panama complies with the requirements requested by the vaccine development companies. With the advances, of course, our country has complied with the agreement, said Berrio.

Panama recently approved the emergency use of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine . In the first quarter of 2021, 450,000 doses are expected to arrive in the country.

Our country respects bilateral agreements and we have kept complying with the requirements as State and country, and the Pfizer company established advance times and payment times, Panama has complied with all these requirements, she said.

Berrio explained that delivery depends on the production and organization designed by the company that developed the vaccine.

We have been saying from the moment that we have made contacts and signed agreements, that Panama enters the first group ... we have a plan, that plan says the first quarter of the year, that first quarter of the year we are within 90 days As they have already started to deliver to other countries, we are waiting for them to notify us of the date of the first delivery, it depends on the amount of production and organization of the companies, she said.

Berrio assured that there is a vaccination plan in place, and a specialized team works to issue the necessary information to the public in this regard.

The plan for the first phase of vaccination in Panama includes health personnel, people over 60 years of age, people with chronic diseases and security forces.
