Panama received this Wednesday 503,100 doses of the vaccine against COVID-19 from the pharmaceutical company Pfizer, donated by the United States.

It is the twenty-fifth and largest batch of this pharmaceutical house that Panama receives in a single delivery.

With this new shipment, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) will reinforce the immunization process, implementing the vaccination sweep modality in different circuits of the country.

To this number of vaccines , there are more than 400 thousand doses that will arrive next week, according to Panamanian Foreign Minister Erika Mouynes.

Panama began its vaccination plan against COVID-19 on January 20, 2021, and so far it has applied 1.8 million doses of vaccines, of which more than 1.3 million are from the pharmaceutical company Pfizer and more than 484 thousand from AstraZeneca.

According to the authorities, Panama has already secured the necessary doses for the entire population in 2021 and that they are already in negotiations to ensure the doses for 2022.

Throughout the pandemic, the United States Government has donated to Panama about 18 million dollars in assistance to combat COVID-19.
