Panama will receive 450,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine in Q2

Panama will receive 450,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine in Q2

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Panama, Erika Mouynes said the number of doses of vaccine covid-19 from Pfizer that the country will receive during the second quarter will be higher than those agreed with the US pharmaceutical for the first quarter of this year.
The way the contract with Pfizer is structured is that in every quarter will we receive more vaccines than the previous quarter, they will always be on the rise, that goes hand in hand with the vaccination plan, with the structural capacity that Panama has to apply more and more. That is already guaranteed and what we are going to see is effectively that progressive increase in the amount of vaccines that we are receiving, said Foreign Minister Mouynes.

Yesterday Panama received the ninth batch of the Pfizer covid-19 vaccine with 77,220 doses, which corresponds to the first shipment of the second quarter.

With this new batch, the country has already received a total of 534,550 doses from the pharmaceutical company.

The head of Panamanian foreign diplomacy recalled that Panama agreed with Pfizer 5 million doses of the preparation, which will continue to be delivered weekly without interruption.

Regarding vaccines from other pharmaceutical companies, Mouynes said that in the case of the Chinese Sinovac vaccine, important diplomatic approaches and the vaccine negotiating team have been made.

Approaches are being made with various pharmaceutical houses, with governments, so that a greater number of vaccines can be immediately supplemented, she said.

The Directorate of Pharmacies and Drugs of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) of Panama reported that it has already started the review process of the Sinovac covid-19 vaccine folder.
