Etesa informa sobre Onda Tropical #34 sobre el extremo oriental de Panamá

Passage of Tropical Wave #34 over Panama could be generating increased rainfall

The Electric Transmission Company SA (Etesa) reports this Tuesday on the displacement of Tropical Wave #34 over the Panamanian territory, which could be generating an increase in rainfall.
Meteorologist Jonathan Montes explained that the Tropical Wave is located over the eastern end of Panama associated with a low pressure system that is practically south of Jamaica, and has an 80% probability of becoming a tropical cyclone or tropical depression and that it is moving towards the Yucatan peninsula.

He explained that for the morning hours, the intertropical convergence zone is located slightly to the south, generating some storm zones over the south of the Gulf of Panama, the south of Azuero and sectors of the Gulf of Chiriquí, as well as some storm cells towards the east of Guna Yala and the north of Darién, which are associated with the axis of Tropical Wave #34, which is expected to move westward during the remainder of the day, generating some short-lived showers.

He added that for hours in the afternoon it is forecast that with the presence of the Tropical Wave, some short-lived downpours will generalize along the Pacific slope, while a partial cloudy to cloudy sky is expected on the Caribbean slope. Except for western Bocas del Toro where some light to moderate and short duration rains are expected.

On the other hand, for night hours it is expected that there will be more stability over the central Panama, especially the West, capital city, Colón and Guna Yala, light rains over the Gulf of Panama and Darien, and cloudy with the probability of light rains towards the Azuero peninsula, sectors of Veraguas, Chiriquí and Cordillera Central.
