As part of the strategies to deal with Covid-19, the authorities are considering converting the modular hospital Panamá Solidario de Albrook into an area dedicated to 100% intensive care.
This was announced on Tuesday, August 11, by the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco
Sucre.
The head of the health portfolio recalled that the Albrook modular hospital currently has 100 beds, of which 80 are for regular patients and the rest for intensive care.
The plan is that all beds in the modular hospital are used for intensive care and regular patients are transferred to the Figali convention center in Amador,
Sucre detailed.
This will provide support to the rest of the hospitals that care for patients with the SARS-CoV-2 virus produced by
Covid-19, he added.
Sucre's statements were given on a tour of the Figali center, where the ruler Laurentino Cortizo was also present.
This site in Amador was conditioned to house four rooms with a total of 160 beds for people with the new
coronavirus. The first patients are expected to arrive at the convention center this Friday, August 14.
According to
Sucre, it is not ideal is that all the beds will be used, but for that it is necessary that the numbers of cases continue to decline and that the population do their part.
