President Cortizo to attend summit on climate change in Glasgow

Cortizo said the climate change summit could mean the last alternative for next generations to inherit a healthy planet.
The Panamanian president, Laurentino Cortizo confirmed that he will participate in the summit on climate change that will take place in Glasgow, United Kingdom between October 31 and November 12.

"This is perhaps the most important meeting since World War II to avoid a catastrophe of global proportions," said President Cortizo during his virtual participation in the High-Level Dialogue on Climate Action in the Americas.

Cortizo warned that the commitments made at this summit on climate change could mean the last alternative for future generations to inherit a healthy planet.

"That meeting cannot fail, that is not an option," said the head of state.

During the High-Level Dialogue on Climate Action in the Americas, President Laurentino Cortizo also reaffirmed Panama's commitment to reducing global warming.

He pointed out that Panama is one of the only three countries in the world, and the only one in the Americas, classified as carbon negative.

He also highlighted that the country recently achieved the category of blue world leader, complying with the 30x30 initiative to protect 30% of the oceans.
