President Cortizo will lead the Cabinet Council to continue the 'City of Health' project

President Cortizo will lead the Cabinet Council to continue the 'City of Health' project

The president also assured that he is talking with the IBT Group to complete the works of four hospitals in different parts of the country.
The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo announced during a tour in Colon that this Wednesday in the Cabinet Council he will present the restart of the continuation of the City of Health project, which will be carried out by a consortium of three Panamanian companies.

"Tomorrow (Wednesday) the Cabinet Council will be presenting the continuation of the City of Health project, it has already been unlocked and a consortium of three Panamanian companies will enter to finish something that should have finished in 2013," said President Cortizo.

It should be noted that until May the culmination of the City of Health was paralyzed before the international arbitration requested by the Social Security Fund (CSS) against the Spanish construction company FCC, in charge of this building.

In addition, the president indicated that he is advancing the negotiation with the IBT Group so that before the end of the year they restart the construction of the four abandoned hospitals, including the Amador Guerrero in Colón.

Cortizo stressed that his administration had to face the payment of $1.8 billion in debt left by previous administrations in many institutions and unions, among those suppliers, teachers and producers.

"We are facing abandoned works from past administrations and with legal problems," said the president.

Cortizo pointed out that the "Recovering the Neighborhoods" plan, which was promoted in Colón, seeks to activate the generation of jobs where facades, new roofs, electrical installations will be repaired and people from the neighborhoods will be hired.
