President Laurentino Cortizo launches 'A Better Panama' plan

The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, made a call to the private sector to execute in together with the National Government the post-pandemic "A Better Panama" plan, during the inauguration the new director of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Panama agriculture.
On the occasion, the president stressed that the new normal will gradually open to all sectors. "For this reason, I ask you to work as a team, so that the reactivation is done in a responsible way. It is necessary to collaborate with the reactivation of the economy and maintain employment positions", he stated.

He also mentioned that the Government works on projects through public-private partnerships (PPP) and other laws contemplated in the action plan, aimed at maintaining and generating jobs that could attract investments of more than $5 billion.

The president said that, with the new normality, Panama must face united tasks that require consensus, through a broad national dialogue, to resolve the issue of the Social Security Fund (CSS), improve the health system and other relevant issues that demand the participation of society because they are decisions for present and future generations.

Cortizo Cohen expressed that the Government firmly and willingly faces the challenges of the pandemic, acting responsibly without hiding the reality, in advance based on scientific truth with the aim of saving lives.

The president pointed out that it is imperative to think about what is to come, which implies facing the challenges with decision, but above all with unity, and being very cautious with the gradualness towards the new normality to minimize the regrowth effects that could collapse the health system and go back the advanced.

He added that, as the "Protect Panama Plan" and the "Panama Solidarity Plan" were developed, now, together with the businessmen "we must also collaborate to build together the Better Panama Plan for economic reactivation and maintain jobs."
