The Minister of Health, Rosario Turner, warned on Friday 8 May that if the gradual lifting of the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages is not complied with and a lack of control is noted, the dry law will be imposed again.
She has requested all regional directors and medical directors of the Ministry of Health (
Minsa) to follow closely the Executive Decree No. 612, which regulates the sale and consumption of liquor during quarantine due to the
coronavirus. If not complied with, the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages will be prohibited again, Turner said.
She emphasized that the sale should start in greater quantity from Monday, since this weekend there is a total quarantine.
Minsa, Acodeco, and the Ministry of Security, together with the National Police, will carry out operations to verify compliance with the new decree.
Turner said that if there are parties or scandals this weekend due to the consumption of alcoholic beverages, liquor sales will be suspended. In addition there will be penalties.
