Harris, who was the only candidate in the five-day electronic vote by nearly 4,000 party convention delegates, will be formally announced at the Chicago convention later this month.
This follows President Joe Biden's decision to end his reelection bid, allowing Harris to take full control of the party as no other Democrats stepped forward to challenge her.
This makes her the first Black and South Asian woman to be the nominee for a major party.
Harris is set to begin her campaign across seven critical battleground states with her running mate, to be revealed soon.
The virtual nomination process was decided due to Ohio's August 7 deadline for major parties to submit certified candidates for the November election.
The official 2024 convention begins on August 19 in Chicago.
Harris' campaign has gained significant momentum, breaking fundraising records and closing polling gaps with Donald Trump.
She will make her first public appearance with her running mate in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, before heading to other key states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, North Carolina, Arizona, and Nevada.
